Dandy Nails Legal Assassin

I have an ongoing love affair with Dandy Nails. These polishes are absolute glitter perfection and I treasure the ones I own.

Legal Assassin is from Sandy's Halloween Collection which also consists of Grave Robber and Mighty Fine Print. For some strange reason I didn't buy MFP when I bought this and Grave Robber, but I purchased it two days ago and am so psyched to get it.

What keep me amazed is the wonderful formula of Dandy Nails. They are jam packed with glitter in various sizes but still has easy application and that is not an easy feat when it comes to glitters. Though they tend to be a bit on the thick side they don't need thinner and that is a big plus in my book.

Legal Assassin is clear based mostly blurple glitter interspersed with green micro glitter and red medium sized hex glitter, an out-of-this-world gorgeous combination AND is opaque in two coats!!!!

Two coats, no undies.

It looks more blue than purple in my shots and I even tried to colour correct it and this is as close as I got.

Wear time is excellent - I work as a film technician and abuse my nails opening film cans and this mani lasted for three days without a chip. Awesome, I tell you!

The pictures do not do this justice, it is Amazeballs to look at.

Legal Assassin, Grave Robber and Mighty Fine Print are still available at the Ninjas - and her Christmas Collection was released earlier this week so go fetch!!

You can follow Dandy Nails on Facebook to get news on new colours and collections, and do make sure to follow Ninja Polish as well - remember their Black Friday sale starts at 7 tomorrow morning Copenhagen Time ;) and they will be announcing random flash sales, coupon codes and promos for hours on both Facebook and Twitter.

Wednesday Polish Picture Spam - on a Thursday ;)

And here are some manis I never got around to blog about. These have some slight colour issues, ie. they are not really colour correct:

Rescue Beauty Lounge MisMas
MisMas is way more purple in real life than this shows you but I hope you'll enjoy it anyway ;) - I think I'll do a reswatch at a later point and see if my light tent can change that.

Pretty & Polished Holiday Collection, part two

So life got in the way of blogging as it is wont to do but that seem to happen to me a lot. Never the less I still have the rest of my picks from the Pretty & Polished Holiday Collection to show you.

First up is a wonderful layering glitter which very appropriately is called Love Always, Candy Cain. It is a red/white glitter filled with hexes in different sizes and hearts in both colours!!!

This is two coats over a-england Camelot. I didn't have to fish for the bigger glitters but I had to place them, they have a tendency to act a little shy when it comes to getting on the nails ;) But all in all this applied very nicely for this sort of glitter.

Drying time was good and I put on a generous layer of Gelous and then a coat of Dior fast dry top coat. The larger hexes tend to stick out a little bit on my nails since I have curvy nails but they don't stick out enough to tear anything.

Next up is Everybody Loves Penguin, a milky white base with matte golden glitter and black hexes in different sizes. I didn't love it initially when I saw photos of it but boy in person this one stands out!! There is not one thing about this one I don't like - well that is besides application. This one needs concentration when you apply it otherwise the glitter will only stick to the tip of your nails.

Dry time was as with LLCC good and this also got a coat of Gelous because of the large hex glitter.

And now to my final pick, also the one I was most excited about when I saw the initial photos: Xmas Wreath. Actually I was so excited that I ended up buying a full bottle. This polish has a shimmering green base filled with emerald green flakes and shreds, holo gold micro glitter and red hexes. This polish is pure christmas in a bottle! It really do remind me of advent wreaths -  and to me the lighting of the first candle symbolises that NOW it's Christmas time :D.

This one looks its best if you build it up with three thin layers, that way you'll get a good spread on the different glitters and a depth to it that is really amazing.

Xmas Wreath dries quicker than the rest of this collection. But beware, this baby is a top coat devourer. You'll need a generous amount of Gelous, and you may even want to do two coats of that before you apply your favourite top coat

Look how beautiful it is...

All in all I love this collection - each polish has something I am excited about, which is a win for me :D.

You can purchase The Holiday Collection at the Pretty&Polished etsy shop, she ships internationally, too. Remember to give P&P a follow on Facebook and keep a tab on the P&P blog to learn all about new colours, collections and LE polishes.

Wednesday Polish Picture Spam

So I realised I had an enormous amount of polish pics floating around but never got around posting them. So this will be my new "regular" posting: Polish Spam on Wednesdays. They will be short and to the point with one or two pictures of each mani and without an elaborate discription. If you want to know anything specific about each mani you are more than welcome to ask away in the commentary thread ;)

Pretty & Polished Holiday Collection, part one - Happy Holodays Duo

December is getting close and this of course mean Holiday Collections galore. I am proud to present my first ever review post and I am thrilled that it is for Pretty & Polished, an Indie brand I have been in love with since I saw it for the first time in the beginning of January.

My first ever polish purchase on Etsy was at Chelsea's and I've been hooked on her polishes ever since. I always look forward to see what brilliant combinations she comes up with when she releases new colours or collections.

And 'tis the season to be jolly so in this post I'll take a look at two of her christmas colours. Out of the seven she has released I have five to show you, the other three will be in a post later this week.

First up is this lovely duo called Happy Holodays consisting of Ruby, a red linear holographic polish and Glitter Topper, a gorgeous red&green glitter meant for layering.

As many of you may know, red is not a favourite colour of mine. But Ruby's jewel tone is totally gorgeous and I couldn't help looking at it all the time. The holographic particles are subtle in it and though I love myself some holo this is actually quite fitting for Ruby.

The wonderful thing about this colour is you can build it's intensity. First layer is a lovely clear read but you get this wonderful deep jewel red tone as you apply second and third layer. The formula is nice and isn't gloopy but application can be tricky, I kept dragging the polish so I let it dry for 15 minutes between second and third layer. Drying time was average.

Happy Holodays Glitter Topper is shown here on top of Ruby and I think it looks awesome, these really suit each other and no wonder they are sold as a duo. This is two coats of the Glitter Topper.

Indirect lighting

The formula on this was very nice, with only minor gloopiness - no need for thinner. I had to use the dab method on the first layer to get this result since I thought the glitter I got on my brush was on the sparse side, but hey that is merely because I love A LOT of glitter. Dry time was average with this as well.

With flash

Red glitter, green glitter, red holo glitter, green holo glitter - it is an AWESOME topper.

With flash, without thumb

I finished it off with a thick layer of Gelous and Dior Top Coat and it was perfectly smooth.

And of course you need to see it on top of other christmassy colours:

Silver: a-england Excalibur
Gold: YSL Manicure Couture Duo Belle de Nuit
Blue: Color Club Cold Metal
Green: China Glaze Jolly Holly

You can shop Pretty & Polished HERE and she offers international shipping so head on over and buy all the pretties. You can also follow her blog or follow her on Facebook to get news and watch all the gorgeous swatches of her wonderful creations.

Be sure to check the blog later this week where I will be featuring these three shades: Everybody Loves Penguin, Love Always, Candy Cain and Xmas Wreath. Something to look forward to, eh?

Disclaimer: These polishes were purchased by me for review purposes.

Challenge Week 45: Tribal Mani

For this week's mani I got inspired by Robin Moses. She has an awe inspiring youtube channel where she shares all her wonderful nail art designs. It is a bit overwhelming to watch when you are starting out in nail art but after a while you realise that you can actually accomplish most of her designs as long as you do it to suit your own level.

This particular design is what inspired me:

As you can see mine are nowhere near as gorgeous as hers ;)

I used my three barryM gelly polishes for this mani as well as Zoya Arizona, a-england Lancelot and nails inc. culross st.

As usual my top coat dragged the design, not sure what to do about it, this time I let it dry for 15 minutes before applying top coat. If you have any advice on how to avoid this suggestions are highly appreciated!

Ninja Polish Color Changing Garnet

As you saw in my spider web mani I am the very proud owner of Ninja Polish Color Changing Garnet, a gorgeous multi chrome polish filled with gorgeous micro glitter. It is part of Ninjapolish's Facets collection which also consists of Zultanite and Alexandrite

I decided to layer it over a-england Lancelot, I thought the reddish tint in this black polish would be very appropriate for it.

The polish is very easy to work with and applies evenly and has great coverage when you layer it, I used one coat for the result you see here.

The colour shift in it is out of this world, it shifts through dark red, gold and green though I wasn't able to get all that amazingness into my pictures, the green hue kept eluding me though you can see it in the bottle and on the nail in sunlight - oh and the glitter is chromatic as well:

This is bottled awesomeness so if you are a fan of duo and multi chrome nail polish I highly recommend you acquire one of these, you can buy it at the NinjaPolish store .
